The assistant can now change profile pictures, your own or, for moderators, someone else's, and set the square featured image on events and calls for papers, by link or file.

Today the assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) started accepting images everywhere the dashboard does.

What it is. You can ask the assistant "change my picture to this one" and give the link or file of an image. It changes your picture in the community or, if you ask, your account picture (the same in every community). Moderators and above also change or remove the picture of people in the community. And when creating or editing an event or a call for papers, the assistant accepts the square featured image (1:1), besides the banner.

Why it matters. Before, only the dashboard changed pictures and featured images. Now the assistant does it in the same conversation where it builds the event, and it can use an image it generated itself.

  • The formats are JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF; SVG becomes PNG. A file can be up to 5 MB.
  • If the image can't be used, nothing changes, and the assistant tells you why.
  • Changing a picture doesn't ask for confirmation.
  • The community banner is still changed only in the dashboard.

Example. "Change my picture to this one: https://example.memberfy.net/me.png. And set this square image as the featured image of the November Meetup." See the recipe Change your picture and set a featured image and Images.

For developers

This part is for people who integrate Memberfy through code. To use what is above, none of it is needed.

MCP: technical details

  • New tool in Members: 210 in total. update_avatar (all roles; no confirmation) takes member (optional), scope (community, the default, or account), remove, image_url and image_base64. Any role changes their own picture; someone else's needs moderator or above, and only for people in the connected community; scope=account is always your own. By role: owner and admin, 210; moderator, 124; finance, 104; member, 87. See Tools · Members.
  • Featured image 1:1 on events. create_event and update_event accept featured_image_url and featured_image_base64; update_event checks the images before changing the event. In create_event, a refused image becomes warnings.
  • Call for papers. create_call_for_papers and update_call_for_papers accept the featured image as a file too (featured_image_base64), and update_call_for_papers checks the images before changing the call.
  • No API route changed. See Images.
