Memberfy directory
hub.memberfy.net gathers Memberfy's communities by language, with search and categories. Who appears, who never appears, how the card is built and how to choose the category, cover and member count in Settings › Search and discovery.
The Memberfy directory, at hub.memberfy.net, is the showcase of the communities that live on Memberfy, for people looking for one. Each community appears as a card, and the card takes you to its address.
What it is
- By language. The page shows the communities in its own language (English is at
hub.memberfy.net/en-us; Portuguese athub.memberfy.net; the other languages at/pt-pt,/es-es,/it-itand/de-de). The All languages selector shows them all, with each community's language on its card. A community's language is the one set in Languages. - Search and categories. Search communities looks in the name, the description and the category; the Category filter only lists categories that have at least one community. With no results, Clear filters brings back the whole list.
- Order. Memberfy's official community comes first, with the Official community badge, in its language and in All languages; then the biggest communities (by member count, even when it is not shown). The list shows 24 at a time and loads more as you scroll or with Load more, with the counter "Showing X of Y".
- The card is a link preview, like WhatsApp's:
- the image is the directory cover; without it, the social media image; without either, the community color with its logo;
- the name, the description (or, without one, the SEO description), the community's address, the category, the language and, if you turned it on, the member count.
- Clicking the card opens the community in a new tab, at its own address (the subdomain or the custom domain). The directory has no page of its own for each community: an old link like
hub.memberfy.net/my-communitygoes straight to the community while it is in the directory.
The directory shows no members, e-mails or content: only what is on the card.
Who appears
Every community appears by default, including those created before the directory: the List in the Memberfy directory option comes on. The owner or an admin turns it off whenever they want.
A closed community appears too. With signup closed, the card still leads to it, and the community's own entry rules apply there: the public page, the plans or the login, depending on what you left open. See Visibility and access.
Who never appears
These never appear, not even through an old link, even with the option on:
- a community whose new members and sales Memberfy has suspended (see Invitation and member import policy);
- a deactivated or deleted community;
- a community taken out by Memberfy (see below).
Set up how the community appears
Role: owner or admin.
It is in Settings › Search and discovery, in the Memberfy directory block: "The Memberfy directory (hub.memberfy.net) brings communities together for people looking for one. Choose whether yours shows up and how." Each control saves on its own, with a Saved notice; there is no save button.
| Option | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| List in the Memberfy directory | When off, the community leaves the directory and its search within a few minutes. Turned back on, it returns | On |
| Category | Helps people searching by topic: Career, Business and startups, Leadership, Technology, Marketing, Health and wellness, Education, Finance, Creativity, Community or Coworking | No category |
| Directory cover | The card image, recommended at 1800×600 px (3:1), up to 10 MB. Choose cover uploads it; Remove cover takes it off | No cover |
| Show the number of members | The member total appears on the community's card | Off |
- Open Settings › Search and discovery and go to the Memberfy directory block.
- Pick the Category and upload the cover with Choose cover.
- Turn on Show the number of members if you want, and check the card at hub.memberfy.net.
To take the community out of the directory, turn off List in the Memberfy directory.
When Memberfy takes the community out
The Memberfy team can take a community out of the directory, always with a reason. Once taken out, it disappears from the directory even with the option on, and the Memberfy directory block shows the notice Memberfy took the community out of the directory, with the date, the Reason and the e-mail for questions or corrections.
The community returns when Memberfy puts it back, if its option is on. The other options in the block stay editable in the meantime.
Examples
- Tech community. The owner picks Technology, uploads an 1800×600 branded cover and turns on Show the number of members. Anyone filtering by Technology in the directory finds the card and opens the community in a new tab.
- Internal company community. The admin turns off List in the Memberfy directory; within a few minutes it leaves the directory and its search.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to ask to be in the directory? No. Every active community already appears, unless you turn the option off.
Does the member count show without my say? No. Show the number of members comes off. The count only orders the list, without showing.
I changed the cover and the card did not change. The directory takes a few minutes to show the change.
My community is in Portuguese and does not show in English. The directory is split by language: it is at hub.memberfy.net and under All languages.
In the API
The directory's public reads, with no login, are GET /api/public/hub/communities (one language's list, with lang pt, en, es, it, de or all) and GET /api/public/hub/communities/{slug}. The community's options are GET and PUT /api/hub-listing, for owner and admin, with X-CommunityId: listed, category, coverUrl (an https link) and showMemberCount; the read also carries delisted (date and reason) and the categories. In the list, Memberfy's official community comes with official: true (the other ones don't carry the field). See Hub.
AI assistant
Through the assistant, the owner and admins read and change the options with get_hub_listing and update_hub_listing, with no confirmation step. Ask like this: "List my community under Technology with this cover" or "Is my community in the directory?". See Tools · Community.
