Discord
Turning Discord on in Ready-made integrations: create the channel webhook in Discord, paste the URL, choose the events and check with Send test. Messages carry only the first name, in the community's language.
Discord posts a short message to a channel for each chosen event: "Posts a short message to a Discord channel for each chosen event." It lets the team (or the community itself, in an open channel) follow who joined, bought or completed a course.
Role: owner and admin. How to turn on, test, disable and remove any app is in Ready-made integrations.
1. Create the URL in Discord
You need permission to manage webhooks on the Discord server.
- In Discord, open the Channel settings (the gear next to the channel name).
- Go to Integrations › Webhooks › New webhook.
- Give it a name (it shows as the author of the messages, for example Memberfy) and, if you like, an image.
- Click Copy webhook URL.
The URL starts with https://discord.com/api/webhooks/. Whoever has the URL can post in the channel: keep it like a password.
2. Turn it on in Memberfy
- In Settings › Integrations and APIs › Integrations, click Discord.
- Paste it into Channel webhook URL.
- Choose the events and check This app will receive: ….
- Click Turn on and then Send test. The channel shows "Memberfy test: the integration is working."
A URL that is not Discord's is refused: "This URL does not belong to this app's provider."
What reaches the channel
| Event | Message |
|---|---|
| A member joined the community | Maria joined the community. |
| A purchase was completed | Maria bought Career Mentoring. |
| A subscription started | Maria subscribed to Growth Plan. |
| A subscription was canceled | Maria canceled their Growth Plan subscription. |
| A member registered for an event | Maria registered for October Meetup. |
| A member completed a course | Maria completed the course First Steps. |
- Only the first name, never the last name or the e-mail.
- In the community's language, not the reader's.
- No message mentions
@everyoneor anyone on the server, even if the person's name has an@. - A name or title that looks like a link is not posted: "Someone" or "(untitled)" goes instead.
Common problems
- The test says the provider could not find the channel. The webhook was deleted in Discord. Create another, paste the new URL and save.
- The app became Failing. Discord refused deliveries for 72 hours (usually because the webhook was deleted). Change the URL, save and click Turn on. See Turned off after failures.
