Slack
Turning Slack on in Ready-made integrations: create an app with Incoming Webhooks in Slack, paste the channel URL, choose the events and check with Send test. Messages carry only the first name, in the community's language.
Slack posts a short message to a channel for each chosen event: "Posts a short message to a Slack channel for each chosen event." Good for the team's sales or welcome channel.
Role: owner and admin. How to turn on, test, disable and remove any app is in Ready-made integrations.
1. Create the URL in Slack
- At api.slack.com/apps, click Create New App › From scratch, give it a name (Memberfy) and pick the workspace.
- In the app's menu, open Incoming Webhooks and turn on Activate Incoming Webhooks.
- Click Add New Webhook to Workspace, pick the channel and authorize.
- Copy the Webhook URL.
The URL starts with https://hooks.slack.com/services/. Each URL posts to one channel only; for another channel, create another URL. Keep it like a password.
2. Turn it on in Memberfy
- In Settings › Integrations and APIs › Integrations, click Slack.
- Paste it into Incoming Webhook URL.
- Choose the events and check This app will receive: ….
- Click Turn on and then Send test. The channel shows "Memberfy test: the integration is working."
What reaches the channel
The same messages as Discord: "Maria bought Career Mentoring.", "Maria completed the course First Steps.", and so on, for the six events (member joined, purchase completed, subscription started, subscription canceled, event registration, course completed).
- Only the first name, never the last name or the e-mail, in the community's language.
- Nothing the person typed becomes a link or mention in Slack; a name or title that looks like a link is replaced by "Someone" or "(untitled)".
Common problems
- The test was refused. The app was removed from the workspace or the channel was archived. Create a new URL, save and test again.
- The app became Failing. See Turned off after failures.
