Releases

Subscribers can now change plans on their own, in Billing or through the assistant, seeing first how much they pay and what changes. Also, the Memberfy website in English, Spanish, Italian and German, new security controls, the feed opens again with courses that have no tags, validation messages now come in German, Spanish and Italian, and posts and events open from the Logs.

Today's highlight:

  1. Change plan: subscribers move to another plan, or from monthly to yearly, on their own, in Billing. Before confirming, they see how much they pay now, the next charge and what happens to extensions, the contract and the coupon. The same can be asked of the assistant.

Then come one piece of news about the website, the improvements and the fixes. At the end, separately, what matters to developers.

Change plan

What it is. The subscriber moves their own subscription to another option: to a bigger plan, to a smaller one or to another billing interval. The subscription changes in place, with the same history; there's no need to cancel one and subscribe to another.

Why it matters. Before, the Change plan button only took people to the community's plans: to switch, they subscribed to the new plan and canceled the old one, or wrote to the team. Now they sort it out on their own, and the community doesn't lose someone who just wanted to move up or down a plan.

  • To a more expensive plan, with the same billing interval, the switch takes effect right away: we charge now, to the default saved card, only the difference prorated for the days left until renewal (with the platform fee, when the buyer pays it, and in installments, when the yearly option allows). If the difference is too small (fewer than 3 days or less than R$ 10), it switches without charging. The next charge comes at the new price, on the same date.
  • To a cheaper plan, one at the same price or one with another billing interval, or when an extension would end, the switch is scheduled for the end of the period already paid. The dialog shows the date and the reason.
  • Before confirming, the person sees the amount now, the next charge and its total, the extensions that continue (with the new price) or end, the contract kept or new, the coupon that stops applying and the scheduled switch that will be replaced.
  • Undo. A scheduled switch shows on the card as Scheduled change, with Undo, until the PIX or boleto for that period's renewal is generated.

Where it is. Billing, on the plan card, Change plan.

How to start.

  1. In Billing, click Change plan. The list has the options from the pricing page, including those with the other billing interval.
  2. Choose the option and read the summary.
  3. Confirm with Pay R$ … and switch (takes effect now) or Schedule change.

Example. Ana subscribes to Growth Monthly (R$ 129) and, mid-month, moves to Business Monthly (R$ 389). There are 15 days left until renewal: she pays R$ 130.00 now on the saved card and, from the renewal on, R$ 389 a month. Diego, on the same Growth Monthly, picks Growth Annual: since the billing interval changes, the switch is scheduled for the end of the month already paid, and the charge on that date already comes at the yearly price.

Some rules: with no saved card, a switch that takes effect now can't be confirmed (Add card opens the form on the same page); with the card declined or payment down, nothing changes and nothing is charged; you can't switch during the free trial, with the subscription past due, with a scheduled cancellation, on a complimentary subscription or with the renewal open. Only the subscriber changes their own plan. See Change plan.

Through the assistant. The same works in a conversation with Claude or ChatGPT: "How much does it cost to move to Growth yearly?", "Change my plan to Growth monthly", "Do I have a plan change scheduled?", "Undo the switch". The plan can be given by name, by the pricing page link or by id. Before charging, the assistant shows the same summary and waits for your yes. There's also the ready-made prompt Change my plan. See Tools · Subscriptions.

What's new

  • The Memberfy website, now in English. The Memberfy website is now available in English, Spanish, Italian and German, alongside Portuguese. A language switcher at the top changes the language and keeps you on the same page. Prices are still shown in Brazilian reais (R$) in every language. Links from this help center to the website now open in your language.

Improvements

  • New security controls. We applied new security controls to access to communities' spaces and content. Nothing changes in use: everyone keeps seeing and doing the same as before.
  • Posts and events open from the Logs. Before, in Members › Logs, only subscriptions and courses were clickable. Now a post or event row opens the item itself, in the space it lives in. See Activity logs.

Fixes

  • Billing history. Before, a paid charge showed "Pending" next to "Paid on…". Now it only shows what applies.
  • Feed with a course without tags. Before, the feed stopped loading when it showed a course created without tags. Now it opens normally.
  • Translated validation messages. Before, some required or invalid field messages reached communities in German, Spanish and Italian in English. Now they come in the community's language.

For developers

This part is for anyone integrating with Memberfy through code. You don't need any of it to use what's above.

API

  • Preview a plan change. POST /api/subscriptions/{id}/change-tier/quote (new) returns, with no side effect, what change-tier would do: whether it takes effect now (IMMEDIATE) or is scheduled (SCHEDULED) and why, the amount now, the possible installments, the next charge and its total, the extensions, the contract, the coupon and the scheduled change that would be replaced.
  • change-tier charges the difference. POST /api/subscriptions/{id}/change-tier now accepts paymentMethodId (the saved card; default: the default card) and installments, and answers 200. It refuses with 400 when there's no saved card and 409 when the renewal is open, and returns the payment error when the card is declined or processing doesn't respond; in those cases nothing changes.
  • scheduledChange now comes on GET /api/subscriptions/me and on the subscription detail (null when no change is scheduled). The scheduled change is read and undone with GET and DELETE /api/subscriptions/{id}/scheduled-change.
  • target.spaceId in activity logs. GET /api/activity-logs returns the item's spaceId in target when it is content, event, status or course (null if the item was deleted or isn't in a space). New optional field; nothing changed for other types.
  • SDK cache. /sdk.js and /sdk.mjs are now sent with Cache-Control: max-age=60, so a new deploy reaches SDK users within a minute.

See the API reference.

MCP: technical details

  • Plan change: 188 tools and 9 prompts. Four new tools in Subscriptions, in the part about your own subscription, for any role, only on your own subscription: quote_plan_change (read-only), change_my_plan (kind: money, asks to confirm; a switch that takes effect now charges the saved card), get_scheduled_plan_change (read-only) and cancel_scheduled_plan_change (asks to confirm). The target goes in target: the plan name with billing ("Growth yearly"), the /pricing/{plan}/{option} link or the option id. New prompt Change my plan (change_plan). manage_my_subscription still covers cancel, pause, resume and reactivate. See Tools · Subscriptions.
