Videos

The space for video shows. One show or several, presenters, episodes with chapters, an open trailer, scheduling and an e-mail notice; the player with quality, speed, captions, theater mode, fullscreen and PiP, resuming on any device, transcripts on request and the numbers with retention by part.

The Videos module is the home of the community's video series: each show has a cover, a description, presenters and episodes, and viewers get a player of their own, with chapters, captions, theater mode and a column of more episodes. It is the sister of Podcast: shows, presenters, episodes, publishing, e-mail, comments, numbers and points work the same way, and this article details what changes for video.

What it's for

CommunityVideos
Online schoolThe weekly series of open classes, outside the course tracks
Product communityBehind the Scenes: one short video per sprint, with chapters by topic
AssociationThe talks from the annual meetup, one per episode, with the trailer open to everyone
CompanyThe board's monthly message, with captions for whoever watches without sound

How it works

Creating the space

In Create Space, Community tab, choose Videos and, in Shows in this space, One show (the space opens straight on it; the window's next step is the show's form) or Several shows (the space lists the shows, created with New show). The show's fields are Podcast's (see The show), except Transcribe every episode: in Videos, transcripts are on request.

Who does what

Same as Podcast (see Who does what): the owner and the admin look after the shows and pick the presenters (members or moderators), who create, edit, publish and delete the episodes of their own show only.

The episode

New episode opens the editor, with Episode file (Video or Audio), Title, Season, Episode number, Type (Full, Trailer, Bonus), Description, Chapters, Open episode and Episode cover. The fields, the chapters, publishing with scheduling and the e-mail notice and who watches follow Podcast's rules.

FileFormatsLimit
VideoMP4, WebM or MOVUp to 4 GB
AudioMP3, M4A or AAC (not WAV: "Upload MP3 or M4A.")Up to 500 MB
Episode coverJPG, PNG or WebPUp to 50 MB

Without a cover, the episode uses the show's.

The video player

ControlWhat it does
QualityThe resolution, automatic or chosen, when the video was converted for streaming
SpeedFrom 0.5× to 2×
CaptionsThe Transcript caption, when the episode has a transcript
ChaptersMarks on the progress bar and the list in the About tab; clicking takes you to that part
Theater modeOn wide screens, the video takes the page's full width (Default view goes back)
Fullscreen
PiPThe video moves to a floating browser window, so you keep watching while you read the comments or use another tab

The uploaded video is converted for streaming, to play smoothly on any connection. The conversion uses the plan's native video minutes (plan), starting with the 30 free minutes every community gets once; without minutes, the episode plays the original file.

When it ends, the video moves on to the show's next episode. Beside the player (below, on the phone), More episodes lists the other live episodes from the same show and, after them, from the space.

The video continues from where the person stopped, on any device with the same account, as in Podcast (see Picking up where you left off).

When you leave the episode page, the video keeps playing in a small floating window in the corner of the screen that follows you around the community: the title takes you back (Back to the episode) and the X closes it (Close the video). When the browser allows it, the video also goes into the system's PiP. Back on the episode, it carries on in the player without stopping. Starting a video pauses the podcast, and vice versa; switching community or signing out stops the video.

The episode page

Reactions, Share, Previous episode and Next episode, and the About, Transcript and Comments tabs (with replies and Drops), as in Podcast.

Transcript

In Videos, transcripts are on request: whoever manages the episode (owner, admin or the show's presenter) clicks Transcribe in the Transcript tab of an episode with a file. In a few minutes, the tab shows the text with clickable times and the search, and the player gets the Transcript caption.

The transcript uses the AI transcription minutes of the plan, the same monthly quota as Drops and Podcast. With the quota used up: "This month's transcription minutes are used up. Try next month or change plans." It works for episodes of up to 4 hours; replacing the file hides the old transcript, and Transcribe again makes another one.

Numbers

In Numbers, the team (owner, admin, moderator and finance) and the presenters see the Plays (from 30 seconds), the Unique people, the Average completion, how many Reached 90% and the Retention by part, which shows in which part of the video people stop. See Numbers.

Engagement points

Watching to the end (90%) and commenting give the same points as in Podcast, once per episode and per person. See Engagement points.

Examples

Talks from the meetup. Space Meetup 2026 (Several shows, one show per track). Each talk is an episode with chapters per question; the opening is a Trailer with Open episode, for whoever hasn't bought access yet.

The board's message with captions. Space Board (One show). After publishing, the admin clicks Transcribe: the captions are ready for whoever watches on the phone without sound.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Videos space accept an audio episode? It can: the episode plays in a simple audio player, without the mini-player. For an audio show, prefer Podcast.

Do the captions show up on their own? No: in Videos, the transcript (and with it the captions) is requested with Transcribe.

Does the video keep playing if I leave the page? Yes: it carries on in a floating window in the corner of the screen (and in PiP, when the browser allows it) until you close it or go back to the episode.

Through the assistant

The assistant creates the space and the shows, uploads the video by link (up to 4 GB) or in base64 (up to about 7 MB), creates and publishes episodes with chapters, asks for and reads the transcript (as text, cues or captions) and shows the numbers. See Tools · Podcast and Videos.
