Authorize and disconnect
Memberfy's authorization screen, part by part. How to choose the community, switch communities, see your connected assistants and disconnect them, and how the owner and admins see and cut any assistant's access to the community.
Every assistant goes through the same screen before it gets access: Memberfy's authorization screen, on the app's address. That's where you choose the community and say yes. After that, each authorization becomes a connection, which you can see and disconnect whenever you want.
To connect, the server address and the steps are in Memberfy itself. In My Account › AI assistants (
/account?tab=assistants), or in Settings › AI assistants (owner and admin), the Connect an assistant block shows the MCP server address with a Copy button, and the steps for each assistant: Claude, ChatGPT and Claude Code / Cursor (with the command and the file snippet, under Copy the snippet).
The consent screen
It opens on its own when you connect the assistant: in a window (Claude, ChatGPT) or in the browser (Claude Code, Cursor). If you're not signed in, Sign in to continue shows up first ("An AI assistant asked for access to Memberfy. Sign in to decide; you'll come back to this screen.").
| Part of the screen | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Title | "Claude wants to access Memberfy on your behalf", with the name the assistant registered |
| Where you go back to | "Afterwards, you go back to claude.ai": the address the authorization returns you to. If you don't recognize it, cancel |
| Which community? | The list of communities you belong to, each with your role in it ("You join as Admin"). "The assistant acts with your role in this community, and only there." |
| What the assistant will be able to do | Read: "Read what your role can see: members, spaces, posts, events, courses, plans and, if you have access, sales, statement and balance." Create: "Create and publish with your role: posts, comments, events, courses, plans and coupons. Anything that moves money or deletes always asks for your confirmation." |
| Money notice | "Anything involving money always asks for your confirmation first." |
| How to undo it | "You can disconnect the assistant anytime in My Account." |
| Buttons | Allow and Cancel |
Allow takes you back to the assistant, already connected. Cancel takes you back without access: the assistant receives the refusal and can't use anything.
If the assistant asked for read-only access, the screen shows only the read item, and the create and money tools don't show up for it.
When the screen refuses
| Message | Why |
|---|---|
| "This access request isn't valid. Go back to the assistant and connect again." | The request arrived incomplete, or the redirect address isn't the one the assistant registered. For security, the screen doesn't redirect to an address that doesn't match |
| "You're not part of any community yet." | The account isn't a member of any community |
| "You're not part of this community. Pick another one." | The chosen community isn't your account's (for example, you left it) |
Switching communities
A connection is tied to the chosen community. To work in another one:
- Create a new connection in the assistant: in Claude and ChatGPT, a second connector with the same address and another name; in Claude Code and Cursor, a second server with another name.
- On the authorization screen, choose the other community.
Both connections coexist. In a conversation, keep only the one for the community you're working in turned on.
Seeing and disconnecting your assistants
Role: any. Each person sees their own connections.
- Open My Account › AI assistants, at your community's address with
/account?tab=assistants. - Under Connected assistants ("AI assistants (like Claude or ChatGPT) you allowed to use Memberfy on your behalf."), each connection shows the assistant's name, the community, "connected…" and "last used…" (or "not used yet").
- Disconnect, and confirm with Yes, disconnect.
Access drops immediately: the assistant's next call is refused, and it needs a new authorization to come back.
Seeing and disconnecting the community's assistants
Role: owner or admin.
- Settings › AI assistants.
- The list shows "Every AI assistant with access to this community, from any member.": the assistant's name, who connected it, when, and the last use.
- Disconnect cuts that person's access through that assistant, immediately.
Use it when someone leaves the team, when an assistant was connected without being agreed on, or to review from time to time who has access.
Anyone who leaves the community, or is removed, loses access through the assistant on their own: the role is checked on every call. Lowering someone's role in the dashboard also immediately reduces what their assistant can do.
When the connection drops on its own
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| You went more than 30 days without using it | The renewal expires: the assistant asks you to connect again |
| You left the community | Calls are refused; the connection is no longer useful |
| A refresh code was presented again after it had already been used | Memberfy treats it as a leak and drops the whole connection. Connect again |
Frequently asked questions
Is disconnecting in Claude or ChatGPT enough?
It removes the connector on that side. To be sure access is over, also disconnect in My Account › AI assistants (/account?tab=assistants).
Can the admin see what I asked the assistant? No. The conversation stays in the assistant. Memberfy records the connection's tool calls (which tool, when, whether it worked), not what you wrote. See Security and limits.
Can I give the assistant a lower role than mine? The assistant always uses your role. For narrower access, use an account with a lower role, or authorize read-only access, if the assistant lets you choose.
